CheckStat comes from The Netherlands. There is a little Union Jack in the upper right corner if you want to see the site in English.
Reports are grouped and put on topical pages:
- Traffic
- Overview
- Last visitors
- Traffic by Day
- Traffic by Week
- Traffic by Month
- Traffic by Year
- Traffic by Hour
- Traffic by Weekday
- Browser
- Browsers
- Browser Language
- Javascript
- Java
- System
- Operating System
- Screencolors
- Screensize
- Origin
- Referrer
- Searchengines
- Searched Keys
- Spider/Crawler
- Country
- Continent
The Traffic - Overview shows some pretty basic numbers.
The Traffic - Last visitors report lists the last 15 visits. Hovering over the arrow icon on the left causes a pop-in to show more detail on the visitor, including the "Return Frequency", which is relative to some unstated time frame.
The Traffic by Day, Week, Month, Year, Hour, and Weekday reports are all similar with the exception of the time range being covered.
The Browsers, Browser Language, Javascript, and Java reports are also similar to one another, in that they all show the count of their respective item during the lifetime of the counter. Browser detection is fairly accurate, misreporting Safari 3.1 as Safari 525, and missing Chrome altogether. Here is a little list of the browsers that have hit my site (not from the log files) in the last three days:
| Firefox | 3.0 | 638 |
| Internet Explorer | 7.0 | 20 |
| Google Chrome | 0.4 | 15 |
| Opera | 9.62 | 14 |
| Safari | 3.2 | 8 |
| Firefox | 2.0 | 3 |
| Safari | 3.1 | 3 |
| Danger HipTop | 4.6 | 1 |
| Internet Explorer | 6.0 | 1 |
The Operating System, Screencolors, and Screensize reports show the metrics of the visitors' systems. This report is missing, or misreporting a couple of Mac Intel OS-X machines.
The Referrer, Spider/Crawler, Country, and Continent reports do about what you would expect, although the Country list is gleaned from the network TLD and not from the visitors' systems. The Spider report is missing a few of the more active ones (on this site) like Cuil, Yahoo! Slurp, Charlotte, etc.
The Search Engines and Searched Keys reports contain more information than most. Not that the information selected for display is different, but there is more of it. Google sites are broken out into individual TLD's. I don't know where Branica came from - it is another counter. There appear to be more keywords on this report than other stats packages show.
SummaryThe CheckStat package is nice. The reports are clear, and easy to read. The blue on blue bar charts could use some decorating, but maybe that's just me.
